About our walks
Our club programme often provides walking events on Saturday and Sundays.
In the Summer months (April to September), we also provide short evening walks. Details as follows:
Saturday/Sunday walks - Some of these are intended for the hardier more experienced walkers.
These walks are usually in the 12-18 miles range. However, the extra effort
is usually rewarded by some beautiful countryside in areas such as Wales,
West Midlands, Wiltshire, etc. Other walks at weekends may be at a moderate pace and may be half or full
day walks. As an example for this type of walk, distance is roughly 9-10 miles for a full day and 6-7 miles for a half day.
Evening walks - tend to be 4-6 miles between April and early-September
depending on available daylight. These often attract larger groups and
are good for new members who want to get to know the club.
Some walks are labelled 'figure-of-8' walks, which provide the option of
doing either the morning or afternoon via a lunch-time meeting place, rather
than the complete full day walk.
Most of our walks involve private transport, but car-sharing is often encouraged as parking space might be
limited at the start of a walk. A ramble fee is paid to the driver to cover fuel costs.
Please note that many walks do not allow dogs. Where they are allowed, the owners are required to keep them on a short lead.
Please note: This site offers basic details of our walks. In some cases, the leader needs to be
contacted prior to a walk or an event which requires last-minute coordination. You will need to contact us
(chelt_ramblers@hotmail.com) for our full programme to get involved in these events, as we do not display leaders'
contact details on this site for privacy reasons.
